In order of different stages of converting Salambur to Wet Blue:

1: Dyeing (Basification):
It turns the skin into a stable material that never rots or is attacked by bacteria. Chromium powder is dissolved after addition and penetrates the skin structure and binds with Collagen. Once enough of the chromium has penetrated, the skin becomes more useful. A small amount of chemicals and alkalis, such as magnesium oxide, are added and the pH is increased to 4. The temperature also rises to 45 degrees Celsius.

2: Suming or dehydration stage:

This step is to remove excess moisture by passing it through large rollers under their pressure. Wet blue is an intermediate stage in leather processing. Wet blue skins are dyed and can be stored or transferred from a dye factory to factories in different countries around the world for a final process.

3: Separation and shaving or splitting and removing:

Wet blue is separated from the middle part to the required thickness for final use. This thickness is basically 1 to 2 mm. Any additional correction in this thickness is done by shaving meat-like waste.
